Inkata Press Melbourne 1991 First Edition

Even so, this is the first publication to have brought together and presented the principles upon which all the various activities in the industry are based. The implications of these principles and their practical applications are described in detail. All of the contributing authors are influential in the sheep and wool industry by virtue of the positions they hold in Departments of Agriculture, universities and commercial organisations. The value and comprehensive nature of this book are due to their combined knowledge and experience. Salmon fishing in the Yemen
Torday, Paul,
ISBN: 0297851721
Weidenfeld & Nicolson Ltd, London, 2007. Reprint
Softcover Softcover. Very Good Condition/. Reprint. a very clean copy, no damage apart from reading creases on the spine, and a slight ageing of the pages. This is the story of Dr Alfred Jones, a fisheries scientist - for whom diary-notable events include the acquisition of a new electric toothbrush and getting his article on caddis fly larvae published in 'Trout and Salmon' - who finds himself reluctantly involved in a project to bring salmon fishing to the Highlands of the Yemen - a project that will change his life, and the course of British political history for ever. With a wickedly wonderful cast of characters - including a visionary Sheikh, a weasely spin doctor, Fred's devilish wife and a few thousand transplanted salmon - SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN is a novel about hypocrisy and bureaucracy, dreams and deniability, and the transforming power of faith and love. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Torday, Paul,
ISBN: 0753821788
Phoenix (an Imprint of The Orion Publishing Group Ltd ), London, 2007. Reprint
Softcover Softcover. Very Good Condition/. Reprint. Racing Pigs and Giant Marrows
Pearson, Harry,
ISBN: 034910946X
Abacus, London, 1997. Reprint
Softcover Softcover. Very Good Condition/. Reprint. Following his acclaimed book about football in the north-east,THE FAR CORNER, Harry Pearson vowed that his next project would not involve hanging around outdoors on days so cold that itinerant dogs had to be detached from lamp-posts by firemen. It would be about the summer: specifically, about a summer of shows and fairs in the north of England. Encompassing such diverse talents as fell-running, tupperware-boxing and rabbit fancying (literally), and containing many more jokes about goats than is legal in the Isle of Man, Racing Pigs and Giant Marrows is without doubt the only book in existence to explain the design faults of earwigs and expose English farmers' fondness for transvestism. Warm, wise and very funny, it confirms increasing suspicions that Harry Pearson is really quite good. Secondhand copy with no damage to describe. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 240 pages. An Outback Life
Groves, Mary
ISBN: 9781742377056
Allen & Unwin, Australia, 2011. First Edition
Trade Paperback Trade Paperback. Very Good/. First Edition. 319 pages. Covers have light creasing. Spine is uncreased. Pages are lightly tanned. All I could think of as my heart thumped in my chest and the rumble of 900 stampeding buffalo rocked my vehicle was, 'Strewth! Am I in trouble now!' In AN OUTBACK LIFE, Mary Groves describes the heart-breaking isolation, the hard work and the rises and falls in her family fortunes as they battle to survive in the Top End. Mary was just 14 when her family moved to the Northern Territory from Melbourne. In her early 20s, she met Joe Groves - a cattleman, horse breaker, drover and rodeo rider. Mary and Joe fell in love and raised four children while leading an exciting and challenging life on an array of cattle stations. During her 40 years in the outback, Mary faced death, disaster and disappointments with remarkable resilience and stoicism. She learned to operate helicopters, cattle trucks and anything else it took to help keep her family afloat, proving that if you want something badly enough you need tenacity, perseverance and - most importantly - a sense of humour. An earthy tale of love, hope, loss and survival in the outback, Mary tells her story at a lively pace, with one entertaining yarn after another. Quantity Available: 1. The Farm : The Story Of One Family And The English Countryside
Benson, Richard
ISBN: 0141012943
Penguin, Great Britain, 2006.
Medium Trade Paperback Medium Trade Paperback. Very Good/. . 230 pages. Tanned pages. When Richard Benson was growing up he felt like 'the village idiot with O'levels' - glowing school reports aren't much help when you're trying to help a sow give birth, or drive a power harrow in a straight line without getting half the hedgerow stuck in the tines. He left Yorkshire to work as a journalist in London, but returned when his dad called with the news that they were going to have to sell the family farm, and, in so doing, leave the home and livelihood that the Bensons had worked for generations. This is not only a moving personal account, but also one that reflects a profound change in rural life. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Family & Relationships; Farming & Rural Life. Real Dirt: How I beat My Grid-Life Crisis
Woodford, James
Text Publishing, Melbourne, 2008. Edition Unstated
Softcover Softcover. Good Condition/. Edition Unstated. "It took James Woodford a while to realise that the greasy pole of big-city ambition was not for him. To rediscover the environmentalist he'd aspired to be when he was young, & to get his family out of the city. But eventually they made it: to the wildly beautiful south coast of New South Wales & a sustainable, self-sufficient, solar-powered lifestyle on 120 acres. No house? They'd build one. Land grazed down & eroding into the lake? Fix it up with some love & hard work...coax it to yield home-grown vegies...plant orchards, raise chooks...a humungous worm farm...how hard could it be?"
