The Aquarian Guide to African Mythology
Knappert, Jan
ISBN: 0850308852
Northamptonshire Aquarian Press, 1990  1990
Large 8vo softcover 272pp b/w illus. very good. This modest guide to African Mythology does not pretend to give more than an anthology of myths and mythological figures. There are many myths, legends and fables in the more than one thousand languages of Africa. In some entries a myth or fable is told as an illustration of the mysterious character of some animals, e.g. the frog. The reading list at the end of this book is likewise only a selection. The illustrations too, have been inspired by numerous sources. They represent works of traditional African art, some of them very old, so that in many cases not only the artist and his family, but his entire ethnic group have long since died. These art works are now safely stored in the museums of Europe and elsewhere.

Native American Myths

From the mouths of one generation to the ears of the next, the tales in Native American Myths have been passed down through the ancient tradition of oral storytelling. Though something is lost when these stories inhabit the page instead of the fireside, Diana Ferguson (Tales of the Plumed Spirit) was determined to preserve the spiritual heritage of American Indians in order to "enrich the lives us all." Whether we hear stories from the cliff-dwelling Pueblos or the Northwest coastal Makah, we find common mythic archetypes: creators, tricksters, heroes, and quests. Yet each tribe also has its unique tales, inspired by the land they inhabit and their wild animal companions. The Nez Perce, natives of the plateau and basin, tell stories of wily coyotes and enemy wolves. Natives of the plains tell buffalo tales, and the Northeast coastal Algonquian speak of canoeing in the fog and meeting a great white whale. Almost every spread includes photographs of artifacts and landscapes, as well as evocative tribal drawings and paintings. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilogram. Did some geniuses of art and science, people like Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton, belong to secret societies that had the most compelling insider information in history, and did Leonardo convey some of these ideas in The Last Supper and other paintings? Secrets of the Code is the definitive guide to the novel and provides the curious reader with authoritative explorations into the major themes within The Da Vinci Code. Dan Burstein has distilled the views of the experts - archaeologists, theologians, art historians, philosophers and scientists - to sort out fact, informed speculation and fiction. The Stargate Conspiracy: Revealing the Truth Behind Extraterrestrial Contact, Military Intelligence and the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt

ISBN: 9780751529968

Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. No foxing in this copy. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Recent exciting discoveries by independent researchers have dramatically challenged our understanding of ancient Egypt, raising profound questions about our past. STARGATE CONSPIRACY exposes the most insidious & dangerous plan of our times. It involves intelligence agencies, politicians, bestselling writers, scientists & industrialists. The authors believe that this conspiracy, centred upon the eternal mysteries of ancient Egypt, targets & threatens us all. Tracing the identity of the groups involved, Lynn Picknett & Clive Prince argue that at the heart of this strange plan is the belief that the ancient Egyptian gods were-and are-real extraterrestrials, about to return through the 'stargate' between our world & theirs. They suggest that the US-funded excavations on the Giza plateau - officially denied, but for which the authors produce documented evidence - now appear to be the result of directives allegedly received through communication with beings of higher intelligence, who are instructing the conspirators to lay the foundations for great global changes. Provocative & stimulating, STARGATE CONSPIRACY is a book of and for the new millennium. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Myths, Legends & Folklore; ISBN: 0751529966. ISBN/EAN: 9780751529968.
