A novel first published in 1917, set around adolescence in a English Public School . When the book was first published it caused consternation and shock as it dealt with, in a realistic manner, homosexuality and growing up, of young men in a realistic manner within the Public School system. The book is showing age and wear. Softening, rubbing and fraying of the back strip edges with bumping to the book corners with all four corners cardboard visible. The rear spine gutter has split the full length of the book. Some rubbing of the book panels. Heavy browning of the text block edges along with stains and discernible foxing. Offset tanning and foxing to the endpapers with browning and occasional foxing spot to the pages. The hinge has cracked between the half title page and title page and the underlying webbing is visible.
