Both front and rear fold over flaps have three small brown marks from sticky tape that has fallen off, there are no annotations in the book, and the top edge of the text block looks like it has been splashed with water giving a discolouration to the page edge. Liz Darcy was the "golden boy" of Australia between 1910 and 1916. But he came under a cloud. He was the perfect specimen of manhood who did not go to war. Because he would not orgo to sleep I put in the box could not enlist in the AIF he was denounced as a shirk and, when, on the eve of a conscription referendum, he flitted to America as a stowaway, criticism of his action operated to prevent his obtaining any matches there against the greatest world names in boxing.
