Blue coloured cloth covered boards with silver coloured decorations and titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with dark pink and black coloured titles, by Jack Matthew, to the front panel and backstrip. In this book a mischievous young boy, Martin Rattler, finds himself on the ship Firefly by mistake. Along with him is his friend Barney O'Flanagan and together they find themselves headed to the South Seas, surviving shipwrecks and pirates and then on to explore South America. Softening, rubbing and a little fraying of the book corners; with bumping, rubbing and a little fraying of the book corners and rubbing of the lower book edges. To the top left-hand corner the silver decoration and blue coloured cloth has been nibbled by insects and a little to the top edge of the rear panel. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. A few foxing spots to the end pages and to the text block edges. The dustwrapper is in not great shape please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges, in fact there is a V piece missing from the top backstrip edge which a previous owner has supported with some "invisible tape". Numerous tears and creases to the dustwrapper edge and there is a large,3", tear to the top left-hand corner of the rear panel and a similar sized tear to the front left hand corner of the front panel , with associated creasing. The dustwrapper edges have numerous tears and nicks, with rubbing of the dustwrapper panels. Fading of the backstrip with the rear panel showing handling marks. Browning and foxing to the verso. Light tanning of the textblock edges and pages and there are a few foxing spots to the textblock edges. Offset tanning and faint foxing of the end pages. The dustwrapper is showing age and wear please see photograph. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. Tears and pieces missing from the dustwrapper edges with quite noticeable rubbing along the fold over creases and either side of the backstrip. Rubs marks and scrapes to the front panel and there is a tear that goes across the full width of the backstrip at the head of the backstrip and at the lower edge. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall.
