Foreword by Samuel Schweizer, Chairman of the Board Of Directors, Swiss Bank Corporation. The text is illustrated with 100 reproductions of illustrations from the 15th and 16th centuries, in colour and in sepia tonings with two being a double page fold out. 1/4 white coloured back strip with black coloured titles. 3/4 terracotta coloured boards. Terracotta coloured slipcase. The title says it all. Published to celebrate the centenary of the Swiss Bank Corporation. A little rubbing of the book corners and of the back strip corners. The back strip shows some stains and marks. A small erosion to the top right hand corner of the front panel and previous owner has placed their name on the lower left hand corner of the front paste-down, and, top left hand corner of the rear paste-down. The slipcase has taken the brunt of the wear. Chipping, with underlying board visible at the back strip corners and there has been a four-inch split to the top edge of the slipcase. Sunning of the slipcase along with various rubs and marks. Size: Folio (over 12" tall ). [10], 11 - 47, and then an paginated section of book with the reproductions of plates. . Purple coloured boards with black insert on the spine with gilt writing. Purple coloured tint to the top text edge. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and there is shelfwear to both the top and bottom book edges. Very minor rubbing to the book edges and browning to the endpapers. The internal pages have become slightly tanned. Between pages 38 and 39 the spine has split and underlying webbing can be seen, this has no effect on the intrinsic soundness of the binding and all pages are tight. Illustrated dust wrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with purple coloured background and white writing on the front panel and black on the spine. The dust wrapper is rubbed, faded and in places grubby. Rubbing to the dust wrapper corners. Chipping, with loss to the top dust wrapper edge and is a little chipping to the lower dust wrapper edge, particularly the spine area. Browning has occurred to the top one third of the dust wrapper and to the spine, commensurate with sun damage. Clipping of the dust wrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. A novel, that was based on Casanova's own memoirs, dealing with the ageing ruoues' pursuit and eventual winning of an old lover's niece and the consequences of same. There is no printing history and or place that is easily discernible, nor is there an illustrator credited, but given the illustrations and styles of clothing worn by the children probably printed in the middle of the 1950s and printed in England given the styles of dogs. A sweet book from the 1950s showing young children at play becoming Cowboys and Indians. There has been rubbing along all board edges and lighter rubbing to the actual boards of the book. Colour illustrated frontispiece by an author as are all the black-and-white illustrations within the text. Green coloured boards with gilt embossed titles to the front panel and backstrip. Pink coloured tint to the top text block edge. Rubbing and discolouration to the backstrip and bumping and rubbing to the corners. The front board is quite bowed. discolouration to the book edges and light browning and faint foxing to the text block edges. Faint erasure mark to the top right-hand corner of the free front end paper. Light age toning to the internal text but there is quite noticeable foxing to the last few pages of the book, at the top edge. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with brown background and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and slight chipping to the dustwrapper corners. The major damage to the dustwrapper has been to the rear panel. There are two tears that run the full depth of the dustwrapper, starting at the top and arcing into the body of the dustwrapper then ending at the lower dustwrapper edge. The dustwrapper panel itself is in three component parts with large amounts of scuffing, rubbing and loss of the background colour where the tears are stop there smaller tears to the front dustwrapper edges and foxing is visible and very noticeable to the verso of the dustwrapper. The dustwrapper is now protected in library sleeving. The diaries of the author who kept numerous diaries throughout her life. This book celebrates her family's life between the years 1864 to 1866. She was one of 12 children of Thomas and Rachel Buxton and these diaries celebrates the every day o a Victorian family. Size: Oblong 8vo - 7" - 9" tall but wider.
