Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. A book that was a companion to the medical student learning surgery, not illustrated, as to not falsely simplify complex conditions and examinations of patients. The book is showing age and use. Softening of the back strip edges with bumping of the book corners and rubbing of the lower book edges and top corners. Patchy fading and stains to the book covers with fading of the back strip and a little to either side of the back strip. Uniform light tanning of the text block edges and pages with bank offset tanning to the end pages. Fine foxing to the end pages with previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page. As issued glassine dustwrapper. A set of surgical books dealing with all things orthopaedic published in 1969, a second edition of a work that was first published in 1956-1958. Both books show minimal rubbing of the book edges and age toning of the text block edges stop the internal pages are clean white and there are no annotations from a previous owner. The as issued clear glassine dustwrappers are somewhat creased and rubbed and the top quarter inch of volume 1 is missing and there is a French tear to the lower right-hand corner of the rear panel of volume 1 and the the last quarter inch of the rear panel is missing.
