A look at the art style known as the Pre-Raphaelites. Started in 1848 by seven young artists and writers, including Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt, they sought to rescue art from the triviality and sterility that it had fallen into. They chose the era, before Raphael, as it appeared to most closely reflect their aims, a expression of social and personal commitment, with a love of literature and, above all, a love of the art of the 14th century. Softening of the backstrip and rubbing to the book corners. There has been some dog earing to the lower right-hand corner of the internal pages, from plate 29 through to an end of the book. Creasing to the dustwrapper edges and rubbing to the dustwrapper panels. Some browning to the fold over panels. Size: Folio (over 12" tall ). (2), 3-16 pages, then 50 unpaginated pages of various artwork.. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Various. Quantity Available: 1.
