 Leather Leather. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. First Edition. introduction. Blue leather with gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. This book is part of a limited edition of 1000 copies, as stated, but is not numbered. Max Harris' poems have been selected by Robert Clark who has also done an introduction to the work. The book is broken into two sections, poems written before 1955 and those written after 1955. As Robert Clark said in his introduction "... to some people his poetry is difficult. He is not a deliberate obscurant (no true poet ever is), but he has read widely, and he assumes that the reader has a literary equipment, and stride, equal to his own." Minor rubbing of the book corners and panels with age toning of the text block edges and pages. Fine scattered foxing to the top text block edge. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. The text is illustrated with black and white woodcuts from artists from the 'Art Club', and at the rear of the book is a tipped in photograph. Plain coloured paperback binding with white insert to the front panel and within that white insert blue coloured titles. As the title would suggest a series of prose and verse written by The Frensham Pen and Ink Club, from 1928 to 1938. This publication is a limited run, this being number 79 of 140 as detailed on the verso of the three front end page please see photograph. The book is showing age (predominantly sun damage) please see photograph. Rubbing of the edges and panels with the aforementioned sunning to the back strip, either side of the back strip and to the book panel edges. Uniform tanning of the text block edges with foxing present. Offset tanning to the endpages with age toning of the pages. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. 52, [4] pages,. Volume 2: [6], 367 - 745, [5] pages. The text is illustrated in photogravure illustrations by Lynd Ward. Orange and brown decorated light brown cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Orange coloured slipcase with dark orange coloured titles to the back strip. First published in 1861. The story of a young scribe and illuminator (the story is set in the 15th century) who travels through several European countries. The book describes people and their practices in minute detail struggling with their obligations between family and to church. The set of books were part of a limited edition of 1500 copies signed by the illustrator of which this is number 822. Both volumes show very little in the way of damage, apart from some rubbing of the corners and a little fading of the back strip. Both volumes have been published on a slightly yellowed stock This slipcase is showing a little age and wear. Chipping to the front corners of the slipcase with rubbing of all edges. Stains and rubs a present to all surfaces and the top edge is quite dusty. There is a white mark to the top right-hand corner of the front panel. Fading of the edges.
