Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing 'The Chair of Knives'. The text is illustrated with black and white photographs. Green coloured cloth covered boards with blue coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. "This is the story about the last of the pirate race throughout the whole world pirates who are openly plying their trade on this coast, as did their forefathers and confreres of the Spanish Main and the Barbary Coast in the seventeenth century." From the foreword page VII. Pirates / Corsairs in Southeast Asia in the 1930s. This book is fit for re-binding, and is an ex-library copy: remnants of due back pocket to the rear paste-down and multiple date stamps to the end page and paste-down. Words almost fail how poor the condition of the book is please see photographs. Rubbing, bumping and fraying of the backstrip edges and there has been total cracking of the rear spine gutter with the underlying webbing visible. Some insect damage, foxing, staining, sunning, and various other marks to the book panels and edges. Tanning and foxing of the text block edges with age toning and foxing of the pages. Page 15 / 18 has come away from the text block edge and is creased and somewhat torn. The front hinge has cracked between frontispiece and title page, with the webbing very visible.
