The first book is "Wanderungen in Australien und Polynesien" (in German language), by O. Rietmann. The second book is "Life in Victoria, or Victoria in 1853, and Victoria in 1858", by William Kelly. Frontispiece is chromolithograph of Sydney. Bookplate is prize awarded at Institution de Glimes, Anvers (dated 1876).

Brennan translated part of the book for an article in The Bulletin on 22-8-07[?]: What the Australian author reads".

The first story tells the adventures of the Laurencay family en route to Australia where they intend to settle on a property acquired by Monsieur Laurencay on a previous visit. Not in Ferguson.
