Part of the DMC Library of books explaining needlework (listed on rear pages). This classic encyclopedia was initially published in French in 1886. An undated early English translation (this copy estimated about 1920). This revised and enlarged edition contains 11 coloured plates and over 1000 drawings. Dillmont owned a string of shops in European capitals, and was a pioneer in promoting needlework as a hobby.
