A Concise History of Modern Painting Herbert Read
Thames and Hudson, London 1972 380 pages. Soft cover This is another fantastic art books from Thames and Hudson. This one has 512 plates, 101 in colour, and it is an expansive study into modern painting. If this book does not alter your reality, nothing will. It is almost unbelievable that some of these works were done a 100 years ago. They could have been painted this morning. Very interesting art history book that anyone will enjoy. In Buffalo, upstate New York, there is a museum called the Albright-Knox. It is full of the abstract impressionists. They started collecting them when they were not popular. If you are ever visiting Niagara Falls, it is a close by visit. As good as any gallery I have seen world wide. Either way this is a great book, and well worth owning. Really terrific read. 14x22cm or 5.5x8.5".14x22cm or 5.5x8.5". Very good condition, just about as good as new.
