Genealogies, bibliography, notes on illustrations and index. Gray coloured and pages. Illustrated frontispiece showing the 1st Spanish Armada. The text is illustrated with contemporary illustrations, reproduced in black and white, colour reproductions of contemporary artwork, maps and ship designs. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with silver coloured embossed illustration to the front panel and silver coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound) with white, orange and gray coloured titles to the front panel and white and orange coloured titles to the back strip. In 1588 the Spanish Armada was defeated by Sir Francis Drake and the English Navy. But, this was only the first Armada that Spain launched, three other a armadas were launched in an attempt to gain more power, and, to subjugate England and make it Catholic again. In this book the author looks at all of Spain's armadas and of the period itself. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with fading of the lower book edges. Bumping of the book corners with age toning of the text block edges. There is an erasure mark to the top right-hand corner of the free front end page. Age toning of the text block edges and pages.
