Within the text there are another 44 coloured plates of various Australian artists landscape paintings. Brown coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine with gilt printers' cartouche on the lower spine edge. Rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the book corners. Shelfwear to the lower book edges. Some dust marks and sun fading to the top edge. Illustrated dustwrapper, being a reproduction of Arthur Streetons' painting " The Land of the Golden Fleece ", with light tan coloured background and purple and black writing on the front panel and white on the spine. The dustwrapper is quite faded along left-hand side of the front panel, and on the back strip section, from exposure to light. Minor rubbing of the top edge of the dust jacket. A book about Australian landscape painting taking the best examples from colonial period through to time of publication. Starting at page 16, the format is a page of explanatory text and mythology, with a black-and-white drawing, and on the opposite page a colour reproduction of an art work. The dust jacket has a sticky tape repaired half inch tear at the top left of the front panel and is slightly browned across the top edge. The book itself, aside from some slight rubbing to the bottom edges of the boards, is in very good condition. The writer of the text was the wife of the artist, and there is an explanation/justification for Dr Mountford not having continued his authorial relationship with the artist.
