Originally opened in 1975 by Richard & Valerie Fitgerald as The Entrance Trading Post selling old wares, books & bric-a-brac. The shop now only sells modern & out of print books from the 19th & 20th centuries & occasionally even older
There are well over 60,000 books in over 100 categories. Hardcover and paperbacks are stocked in all categories as well as a rare books and collectables section for those who are after something special.
As well as the usual bookshop subjects of general fiction, Australiana, gardening, sport, cooking, war, shipping, aviation, ect. The shop also has sections on philosophy, religion, new age, ancient history, movies & biographies and our large literature section contains over 5,000 titles from Jane Austen to Emile Zola.
The children area is stocked with old favourite authors such as Enid Blyton and L M Montgomery as well as all the classics. The large general section is stocked with authors such as Georgette Heyer, James Mitchener, Allister Maclean, as well Tom Clancy, Danielle Steel and all the latest popular authors. The shop contains a ever expanding section of Crime Fiction and True Crime to keep up with its increasing popularity.
The Australian section is well represented with over 4,000 titles both fiction & non fiction. Our history section is extensive and covers everything from the local scene to world events. Collectable room contains hundreds of items of all interests from old newspapers, magazines, postcards & all types of ephemera. Also many old and out print books.
The stock is added to the shelves daily with a constantly changing and increasing variety of interesting books. Books are kept for the collector, reader, student and all the family.
We are open 7 days 9-5 including public holidays.
