In operation from 1892 to 1961, the West Clare led an exciting life, the everlasting struggle for financial survival supplemented by battles against ferociuos weather, and attacks by the IRA during the 'Troubles'. The railway was the setting for the celebrated incident invloving the entertainer Percy French, immortalised in the ballad "Are Ye Right There, Michael?' Lavishly illustrated with photographs, drawings (to 7mm scale), maps and 'period' artwork, with a full colour cover carrying a specially commissioned painting.
